The opening of BORKONYHA was more than a decade-long dream. Our professional journey (Mágnáskert, Bortársaság, Bock Bisztró) and our strong friendships and family ties made it clear that one day we would open a restaurant together. We found the perfect culinary partner for this venture in Executive Chef Ákos Sárközi.

BORKONYHA’s style is a fusion of a French bistro and a contemporary Hungarian family restaurant. The name speaks for itself, and its character is defined by an extensive and flexible wine selection, refined dishes, and a personal, relaxed service.

From our selection of 200 wines—ranging from small, one-hectare producers to the most renowned Hungarian winemakers—48 are always available by the glass. One of the restaurant’s standout features is a temperature-controlled wine shelf at one end of the space, capable of storing and aging 1,200 bottles.

We earned our first Michelin star in 2014 and have proudly maintained it ever since. One of the key secrets to BORKONYHA’s success is something our sous-chef, Csaba Puskás, summed up simply: "harmonious teamwork."
